This one is close to my heart too! It can be tempting to look at 1990-- the season of the International Pop Underground, the moment just before Nevermind--- as a sweet apotheosis/golden age, but of course this moment (like any in cultural history) is contradictory, messy, and dynamic, and I love how many strands of this moment this tape captures.
